Home Interiors | Winchester

Flowers: THE HAMBLEDON | Cacti: IKEA | Rose-gold candle: M&S
Now living in a student house can often mean drab furnishings and mouldy walls, but I'm all for breaking that myth.

Before I came to university, I hadn't even heard of Winchester, with it being a small city situated in the heart of Hampshire. But since living here for almost three years, I definitely would call Winchester my second home. I should also mention that Winchester is the ancient capital city of England, so there's a claim to fame! With a cobbled high-street, boasting a range of shops from Hobbs to River Island, and a vast array of pubs, bar and restaurants where myself and friends have spent many drunken evenings, there's plenty to do!

A definite place to visit for interiors and other quaint nik-naks would be independent department store The Hambledon if you're struggling to jazz up your bedroom. Adding some fake (or real- whatever floats your boat) flowers or even some cacti, will give an element of nature to create an atmosphere of zen. And you can always rely on a scented candle to create a homely feel. The key is to ensure your colour scheme is consistent across and that the styling is carefully placed to avoid a cluttered aesthetic.
